In February of 1985, a pastor and small group of believers started Grace Church in Amarillo, Texas. Their focus was to faithfully proclaim God’s Word through the power of the Holy Spirit and follow wherever Jesus led. As the church grew so did a conviction that proclaiming God’s Word, verse by verse through radio, would be a powerful disciple-making opportunity.
Establishing a radio network would present enormous challenges, so one church member boldly asked God to provide “the mountain of radio.” His prayer echoed Caleb’s request in Joshua 14:12 to possess the mountain God promised to Israel.
Following God’s leading, Grace Church sent money to support Freedom Radio FM, a Christian radio startup based out of Twin Falls, Idaho. Freedom FM Radio eventually grew into a large, national network while Grace Church operated their own local radio ministry in Amarillo.
In God’s sovereignty, Freedom Radio FM was gifted to Grace Church in 2019. Today, Radio by Grace impacts thousands of lives each day by delivering God’s Word on air and online.
